Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は、熱風溶着方法およびその装置に関
し、特に小型の熱可塑性樹脂部材の連続接合を可
能にする熱風溶着方法およびその装置に関する。
合成樹脂材は、金属材に比し、軽量で且つ成形
が容易なことから、多方面に利用されている。こ
のような利用範囲の拡大に伴い、合成樹脂部材の
接合が必要となつてくる場合がある。プラスチツ
クパイプの溶着の例が、たとえば、特開昭48−
92477号公報に開示されている。この公知手法
は、対のプラスチツクパイプの端面を当接させて
固定し、この固定パイプに熱風ノズルおよびプラ
スチツク帯状体供給部を備える治具を取付け、治
具のパイプに対し回転させ、熱風によりプラスチ
ツク帯状体を対接するパイプ端面に溶着させるも
のである。この公知例は、パイプの自動溶着化と
いう利点を有するもののパイプ径に応じた治具を
用意する必要がある。
一方、車両のブレーキオイルリザーバや排気ガ
ス浄化システムのバルブボデイ等に合成樹脂材が
多用されるようになつてきたが、この種の部品
は、多量に、しかも、同品質に仕上げる必要があ
る。このような要望を満たすべく、前述した公知
例の教示を利用すると、各部品毎に治具を作る必
要があること、プラスチツク帯状体を用いなけれ
ばならないこと、および治具を回転させる必要が
あること等のため、合成樹脂部材の多量の連続溶
着を低コストで行うには不向きである。
この発明は、前述した公知例および特開昭52−
90584号公報で開示する熱風を利用することによ
り、熱可塑性樹脂材の溶着作業を連続的に迅速に
行うようにしたもので、そのための技術手段とし
て、互いに対向する接合面間に僅かな間隔をとる
ように対の被接合物を保持し且つ該両被接合物を
同一速度で回転させること、被接合物の外壁面よ
り外側に位置決めされた熱風ノズルから接合面部
分に向けて熱風を吹付け該接合面部分を半溶融状
態とさせること、被接合物を加圧し接合面を圧着
させることを用いている。
この発明によれば、熱風ノズルが被接合物の外
壁面より外側に位置決めされるので、被接合物の
形状、寸法変化があつても、被接合物の外壁面と
ノズルとの間を一定に調整可能となり、このため
接合面部分の半溶融状態を常にほぼ同状態とさせ
得る利点が得られる。
この発明の実施例を添付図面を参照して説明す
る。
1は本発明に係る熱風溶着装置の一例の本体
で、そして、被接合物保持装置2、ヒーターユニ
ツト3、そして加圧ユニツト4が取付けられてい
る。前記被接合物保持装置2は、第2図に見られ
るように、スリーブ20、バネ21及び底ブタ2
2およびスリーブ20に案内されてガタなく上下
するワークガイド23からなつており、このスリ
ーブ20とワークガイド23とは熱可塑性樹脂材
からなる被接合物5,6を保持するようになつて
いる。上側と下側の被接合物5,6の対向する端
面5a,6aの間にわずかな間隔を維持するよう
に保持装置2が被接合物を保持する。被接合物
5,6の端部の端面5a,6aは、半径方向に膨
出させた環状のフランジ部に突状の形で形成され
る。後述する熱風ノズル30からのスポツト的な
熱風が接合面となる端面5a,6a間に吹き込
み、接合面である端面を5a,6aを容易に半溶
融状態とするようにしている。又、被接合物保持
装置2は、その下部に図示していないモーターが
取付けられ、回転するようになつており、被接合
物5,6を任意の所定の速度で回転させる。ヒー
ターユニツト3は、ヒーター31を保持しかつ熱
風ノズル30の位置を前後に調整する機構をもつ
ヒーターホルダー32と、前記ヒーターホルダー
32を一定角度回動させる図示されないロータリ
ーソレノイドと、図示されない風量調整器と、そ
してこれにより一定に設定された風量のエアを前
記ヒーター31に送る送風用ビニルパイプ33と
から成つている。又このヒーターユニツト3は、
本体1にあけられた長孔10により、被接合物
5,6の大きさに応じて前後に動かすことが可能
で、さらに前記ヒーターホルダー32により微調
整することでその位置決めができる。) ノズル30からの熱風は、ヒーター31の出口
部分、つまり熱風ノズル30で小さくスポツト的
に絞れら、被接合物5,6の接合面である端面5
a,6aの部分を半溶融状態とさせる。
加圧ユニツト4は、5,6の脱着を可能とする
ために、後方への回動機能を持ち、さらに、被接
合物5,6を上方から押える旋回クランパー40
と、又この旋回クランパー40をガタが生じない
ようにガイドするクランパーホルダー41と、旋
回クランパー40を上下方向に動かす図示されな
いエアシリンダーと、旋回クランパー40の下方
位置点を決め、溶着代を調整する溶着代調整ボル
ト42と、および溶着代調整ストツパー43とか
ら成る。
以上の如き構成において、前述した熱風溶着装
置を作動するにあたり、先ず、ヒーター31の準
備運動をし、ヒーター31の出口、つまり熱風ノ
ズル30よりの熱風を300〜450℃とする。これに
より第3図aの動作が完了する。
次に、被接合物5,6をワークガイド23に装
着する。熱風ノズル30と被接合物の外壁面との
間隔を所定値となるよう熱風ノズルの位置決めを
した後、被接合物保持装置を回転させ両被接合物
5,6を回転をさせ、ヒーターユニツト3が被接
合物5,6の溶着部である端面5a,6a間に熱
風をスポツト的に吹きあてる。これにより第3図
bの動作が完了する。
次に、一定時間の加熱を終つた後、ヒーターユ
ニツト3を回動させるか或いはもとの位置にもど
し、熱風が被接合物に当らないようにする。これ
により第3図cの動作が完了する。
さらに、該動作が完了すると、被接合物保持装
置2は、回転をストツプし、次に、旋回クランパ
ー40が、被接合物5,6の上方の所定の位置に
回動し、下降して溶着部である端面5a,6aが
固化するまで圧着する。この動作は、第3図dの
ごとくなり、この段階にて溶着が完了する。次い
で被接合物5,6を保持装置2から取外し自然放
冷させる。
熱可塑性樹脂材からなる被接合物は、溶着部の
形状を考慮すれば、中空体形状でも中実形状でも
接合でき、さらに溶着部は、円形はもとより楕円
や角形状のものも、ヒーターユニツト10をカム
で動作させれば、簡単にできる。

    させた環状のフランジ部に突状の形で形成される

    面に近接させて熱風ノズルを位置決めすること、 前記被接合物を同一速度で回転させること、 前記被接合物の接合面間に向けて前記熱風ノズ
    ルより熱風を吹付け、前記接合面の部分を半溶融
    状態とさせること、 前記被接合物の軸線方向から前記被接合物に外
    力を印加し対向する前記接合面を圧着させるこ
    と、 前記被接合物への外力および熱風吹付を解放し
    た状態で前記被接合物を取外すこと、および取外
    された前記被接合物を自然放冷させることからな
    る熱風溶着方法。 2 回転装置に連結され且つ熱可塑性樹脂材から
    なる第1および第2の被接合物を保持する装置
    と、 前記両被接合物の端部の環状フランジ部に突状
    の形で形成される接合面に向けて熱風を吹付ける
    ノズル装置と、および、 前記被接合物の軸線方向から外力を印加し前記
    両被接合物の接合面を圧着させるクランパーとを
    有し、 前記被接合物保持装置が前記被接合物の接合面
    を対向させ且つ僅かな間隔を維持するよう相対的
    に移動可能であり、前記ノズル装置が前記接合物
    の外壁面に接近および離反すよう移動可能であつ
    て、さらに、前記クランパーが前記被接合物の前
    記保持装置からの着脱を可能にするよう該保持装
    置から離反可能であることを特徴とする熱風溶着
    装置。
