Conventionally, there are many research reports and practical examples regarding friction welding of metal materials. However, ceramics, which are brittle materials, have problems such as being easily cracked during chucking, easily cracking due to thermal stress, and easily cracking due to impact at the start of contact, and have not been put into practical use.

An object of the present invention is to make friction welding with high joint strength, work efficiency, and energy efficiency applicable to joining ceramic materials. In recent years, ceramics have attracted attention as a material with excellent heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance, but it is difficult to mold irregularly shaped and large parts, and the establishment of bonding technology is awaited as a solution to these problems. Therefore, the present invention, which joins ceramics by friction welding, has great significance.

To explain the present invention based on the drawings, a pipe plate (2) made of a ductile metal is caulked to the ceramic (1) to be joined, and a disk (3) made of a ductile metal is set in front of the surface (υ) to be joined. .Here, in friction welding, the base plate must have a circular cross section, such as a round bar or pipe (ri is a round bar or pipe.

If you directly grip ceramics (1) with a chuck, it often breaks due to stress concentration, and if you reduce the gripping force to avoid cracking, it will not be able to withstand the torsion during pressure welding, and (υ will spin idly) .Ductile material metal pipes (
By caulking the second pin to (υ), the stress concentration during chucking is alleviated, making it possible to sufficiently grip (1) without destroying it.Also, metals generally have better thermal conductivity than ceramics. Therefore, (2) helps in the axial heat conduction of (1) and also serves to prevent (1) from breaking due to thermal stress. (3) reduces the impact force at the start of contact due to its ductility. This prevents (1) from cracking, softens and scatters during pressure welding, and the end face of (1) becomes the joint surface. Figure 2 shows the appearance when ceramics are joined together. Further, FIG. 3 shows a photograph obtained by cutting in a direction perpendicular to the bonding surface and observing it with an electron microscope. Next, when joining metal and ceramics, naturally (3) is unnecessary and only (2) needs to be caulked. The figure shows the state in which metal and ceramics were bonded and then polished to observe the bonding state. Note that (2) can be removed after bonding, but if left in place, it can be effectively used as a buffer against external stress.

As explained above, the present invention enables friction welding of ceramics, which are brittle materials, by utilizing the ductility and heat conduction of metals.
