Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明はプリンタのリボンカセット判別装置に関する
。
タイプライタあるいはシリアルプリンタ等のプリンタに
使用されるリボンカセットにおいではインクリボンの種
類として各種のものが使用されでいる。すなわち、プリ
ンタ用インクリボンとしてはその用途に応じて、第１図
Ａに示すように黒色あるいは青色のインクを塗布した単
色リボン、第１図Ｂに示すように黒・赤あるいは青・赤
の二色を配した二色リボン、また、第１図Ｃに示すよう
に黒・青・赤・黄の四色を配した四角リボン等が用いら
れており、プリンタの使用目的に合せてリボンカセット
を所望のものに取換えていた。しかし、リボンカセット
を交換することを忘れたり、カセットの種類を取違えた
りすると印字文字が所望の色以外の色で印字されるとい
うことがあった。
この発明は上記欠点を解消するものであり、以下にこの
発明をドツトマトリックス型インパクトシリアルプリン
タに実施した一実施例を図面を参照して詳細に説明する
。
図において、印字ヘッド１を載置したキャリッジ２はガ
イド軸３に案内されてプラテン上の印字用紙（共に図示
せず）の印字行に沿って往復動可能に支持されている。
印字ヘッド１の前方にはリボン力セツ１−４（上カバー
を省略している）がプリンタフレーム（図示せず）上に
支持されている。
リボン力ヒット４内には一対の送りローラ５，６が回転
可能に支持され、この送りローラ５，６はプリンタフレ
ーム上に支持されたモータ７により常に一方向に回転さ
れている。
１〕ンドレステープ状織物に印字用インクを含浸させた
印字リボン８は前記送りローラ５．６に駆動されてリボ
ンノＪセッ１へ４内に折畳み状に収納された状態から出
口開口９を通して順次引き出され、右ガイド軸１０、リ
ボンガイド１１およびノｒ−ガＹド軸１２に案内され、
入口間口１３からｒｌＴび力１２ット４内へ引き込まれ
る。
前記リボンガイド１１は印字ヘッド１の印″ｒ端に回転
可能に支持されており゛、リボンガイド１１下端に形成
されンこ扇形ギヤ１４はアイドル口／１５、モータギヤ
１６を介してステップモータ１７に連結されている。こ
のステップモータ１７が所定ｍ回転されるとリボンガイ
ド１１が回転され、リボンガイド１１に挿通された印字
リボン８の所要のリボン帯域が印字ヘッド１の印字端ど
λ・１向される。
リボン力セツ１〜／Ｉのケース外壁に＋、ｔ　ｌｉｔ　
標と１ノ′Ｃの３個の突起２０ａ　、２０ｂ　、２０（
ンが形成さ１１ている。これらの突起２０ａ　−２０Ｔ
；　１．１力Ｌ＝　ツｌ−ケース内に収納されたりボン
８の種類を示すｂのであり、また、これらの突起２０ａ
〜２０ｃはニッパ等の工具により容易に切除できるもの
である。
これらの突起２０ａ〜２０Ｃに対向してプリンタフレー
ム上には検出手段としての３個のスイッチ素子２１ａ、
２１ｂ、２１ｃを配置した塞板２２が第２図において二
点鎖線で示す位置に固定されている（第２図において、
基板２２は矢印で示すにうに展開した状態で示している
）。これらのスイッチ素子２１ａ〜２１０の検出信号は
基板２２」二のパターン配線及びリード線２３を介して
プリンタの制御装置に供給されている。
このような装置にＪ５いて、第２図に示すリボン力はッ
ト４のＪ：うに突起２Ｑａ〜２０Ｃが３個存在する場合
には例えば黒単色リボンが装填され、あるいは突起２０
ｂ、２０ｃが切除されている場合には黒・青・赤・黄の
四角リボンが装填されているというように取決めておけ
ば３個のスイッチ素子２１ａ−・２１ｃにより最大８種
類までのリボン力レツ１〜４の種類を検出することがで
きる。従って、ホストコンピュータ等の外部装置からの
リ３− ボン帯域指定信号と検出手段からのリボンカヒッｉ−判
別信号とが一致しない場合にはブザーを鳴らづなどして
操作者に誤操作を報知することができる。
なお、本実施例においては指標および検出手段として突
起２０ａ　、　２ｏｂ　、、２０ｃおよびスイッチ素子
２１ａ、、２１ｔ＋、２１ｃを用いたが指標として反射
膜、検出手段としてフォトカブシを用いるなど他の手段
に置換えることも可能である。
以上詳述したようにこの発明は簡単な構成ににリリボン
カセットの種類を正確に判別し、誤印字動作を未然に防
止するものであり、その効果はきわめて大きいものであ
る。

  1. カセットケース内に収納されたリボンの種類を示す指標
    を前記力ヒットケース外壁に設け、プリンタ内に前記指
    標を検出する検出手段を設参プたことを特徴とするプリ
    ンタのリボンカセット判別装置。
