Claims

A preset tuner that stores frequency information signals corresponding to the frequencies of each broadcasting station in advance in a memory and selectively reads out one of the frequency information signals from the memory to perform a tuning operation, the preset tuner comprising: means for sequentially reading out each of the frequency information signals from the memory in response to a preset operation for pre-storing the frequency information in the memory; and detecting that the read out signal matches a signal corresponding to the frequency currently being received. 1. A preset tuner comprising: means for generating a coincidence detection signal, and capable of preventing writing of the same frequency information signal into the memory.
