Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は熱可塑性プラスチックよりなるシート状被加
工物を連続的に溶着する超音波加工機に関し、特に工具
ホーンに超音波振動を加えつつ、その工具ホーンに対向
して配置された送りローラを回転させて被加工物を移動
させつつ溶着する超音波加工機に関する。
従来のこの種の装置は第1図および第2図に概略を示す
ような構成であつた。
すなわち、第1図に示す装置は超音波振動子により振動
される工具ホーン1とシート送り方向に回転可能に配置
されたシート送り用下ローラ2とを対向して配置したも
のである。このような配置では工具ホーン1を振動させ
つつローラ2を回転駆動しても二枚重ね合されたシート
3の良好な送りが得られず、シート3の引出し側に別個
の一対のシート送り用ローラ4、4を設け、シート3を
引張らねばならなかつた。このような構成ではシートを
その端部から溶着できないこと、軟質のシートあるいは
厚手のシートを加工する場合には工具ホーン1と上層の
シート3とのまさつ抵抗のため、上下のシート3がずれ
ることなどがあつた。また、第2図に示した従来装置は
モータ5により回転駆動される円板状の工具ホーン6を
用い、その工具ホーン6と同期して回転されるとともに
工具ホーン6と対向して配置されたシート送り用ローラ
7を配置したものである。
この装置では重合した上下のシート8にずれがなく、溶
着面が良好であり、シートの端部から溶着できるもので
あるが、振動子9への高周波電流の供給手段など装置が
複雑になるとともに工具が大型になるため、装置のコス
トが高くなり、ひいては加工コストも高くなるという欠
点を有していた。この発明はこれら従来の欠点を解消し
、簡単な構成であるとともに加工状態の良好な超音波加
工機を提供しようとするものであり、以下にこの発明を
具体化した実施例を参照して詳細に説明する。
第3図はこの発明による装置の概略を示す機構図であり
、フレーム10に固定された加圧用シリンダ11は圧搾
空気を用いて加圧軸12を下方へ押圧するように構成さ
れている。
加圧軸12の下端にはフレーム10に対して上下方向に
摺動可能に案内された振動子ホルダー13が固定されて
いる。この振動子ホルダー13には固定ホーン14が固
定され、固定ホーン14の上部には振動子15が一体に
連結されている。この振動子15は電極間にセラミツク
板を挾んだ通常の電歪振動子であり、超音波発振器16
により高周波電流が供給されると固定ホーン14を超音
波振動させる。この固定ホーン14の下方には工具ホー
ン17が一体に固定されている。前記工具ホーン17の
下方には工具ホーン17に対向して円板状の送りローラ
18がフレーム(図示せず)に回転可能に支持されたロ
ーラ軸19に固定され、ローラ軸19は図示しない駆動
装置により一方向に回転駆動される構成となつている。
送りローラ18の外周面は第4図に示すように中央部の
外径が大きくなるように構成され、その代径部外周には
ローレツト20が形成されている。前記工具ホーン17
の下端の加工面21は第5図に示すように送りローラ1
8の外周面の曲率とほぼ等しい曲率の断面円弧状の凹曲
面に形成されている。また、被加工物である二枚重合さ
れたプラスチツクのシート22の供給側の加工面21.
は隣接する部分が傾斜した傾斜面23に形成されており
、送りローラ18の外周面とによりくさび状の挿入部2
4を形成して、工具ホーン17と送りローラ18との間
にシート22を供給し易くしている。このような装置に
おいて、次にその加工工程を被加工物として厚さ0.1
mmの塩化ビニルのシート22を溶着する場合を例にと
つて説明する。
まず、加圧用シリンダ11により振動子ホルダー13を
上方に持上げた状態でシート22の加工端を工具ホーン
17と送りローラ18との間に挿入し、加圧用シリンダ
11により工具ホーン17を下降させ、工具ホーン17
と送りローラ18とによりシート22を挟持する。次い
で、発振器16を動作させて工具ホーン17に20KH
z程度の超音波振動を加えつつ、送りローラ18を周速
が毎分10m程度で回転させると、工具ホーン17の超
音波振動によりシート22が溶融され、上下のシート2
2は溶着されつつ送りローラ18により送られる。この
とき、加圧用シリンダ11により工具ホーン17に加え
られる力は8kg程度である。このようにこの発明の装
置は工具ホーン17の加工面21を送りローラ18の外
周面の曲率とほぼ等しい曲率の凹曲面としたため、加工
面21がシート22の送り方向に距離があり、工具ホー
ン17と送りローラ18間に供給されたシート22を徐
々に予熱し、加工面21の終端部分で最終的にシート2
2を溶着するため、シート22の送り方向に無理な力が
かからない。
また工具ホーン17の加工面21と送りローラ18との
間の送り口ーラ18の半径方向の距離は加工面21の挿
入部24近傍(第5図A点)よりも出口部(第5図B点
)の方が小さいため、出口部に近づ<ほどシート22が
挾圧されるものである。さらに、工具ホーン17の上下
方向の超音波振動は出口部B点においてシート22を送
り出す方向に作用するため、シート22の送りを一層良
好にしている。次に、この発明の他の実施例について第
6図を参照して説明する。なお、図面中、第1の実施例
と共通の部分には同じ番号を符し、説明を省略した。第
6図は第1の実施例の第5図に相当するものであり、工
具ホーン25下端の加工面26は送りローラ18の外周
面の曲率よりも小さい曲率の断面円弧状の凹曲面に形成
され、この凹曲面の曲率中心が送りローラ18の曲率中
心よりもシート22供給側(第6図において右側)にず
らされている。それによつて工具ホーン25の加工面2
6と送りローラ18の外周面とがシート供給側から出口
部に向つて両者の距離が次第に狭くなるようなくさび状
の加工部を形成している。加工面26と送りローラ18
外周面との間隙を上記のように構成することにより、超
音波加工時に加工面26のシート供給側でシート22に
加わる圧力を小さくし、シート出口部で最大にすること
ができ、第1の実施例で示した装置よりもさらにシート
22の送り状態を良くすることができる。なお、この第
2の実施例では工具ホーン25の加工面26をj製作の
容易な断面円弧状の凹曲面としたが、断面円弧状に限ら
ず、それに近似した形状でも同様の効果を得ることはも
ちろんである。第7図はこの発明のさらに他の実施例を
示すものであり、第1の実施例と共通の部分には同一番
1号を符し、説明を省略する。
第7図において、27は一部が工具ホーン17とシート
22との間に介在されたエンドレスループ状のテープで
あり、工具ホーン17を固定した振動子ホルダー13に
適宜の方法で回動可能に支1持された複数個のローラ2
8により移動可能に支持されている。
このテープ27は被加工物であるシート22と超音波加
工時に溶着し得ない材質で形成されており、例えば、紙
、ポリエステルシート、絶縁紙、紙にテフロン樹脂を含
有させたもの2などを用いることがで゛きる。このよう
なテープ27を工具ホーン17とシート22との間に介
在させることにより工具ホーン17がシート22に食込
んだり、シート22がずれることを完全に防止できるも
のであり、これによつて、ごく軟質のシート、あるいは
大きな加圧力を要求される厚手のシートの溶着も可能で
ある。
なお、この第3の実施例ではエンドレスループ状のテー
プ27を用いたが、リール巻取式のテープを用いること
も可能である。
第8図はこの発明のさらに他の実施例を示すものであり
、第1の実施例と共通の部分には同一番号を符し、説明
を省略する。
第8図において、29は液体潤滑剤30を入れたタンク
であり、適宜の方法により振動子ホルダー13に固定さ
れている。
31はパイプ、32はそのパイプ31の途中に設けられ
た液量調整コツク、33はパイプ31の先端に固定され
たフエルトであり、超音波加工時にシート22上面と接
触するように配置されている。
液体潤滑剤30はシート22を損なわない物性のもので
あれば良く、水、機械油、有機性溶剤などを用いること
ができる。このような構成において、超音波加工時には
液量調整コツク32を開いてフエルト33に潤滑剤30
を適当量供給する。この潤滑剤30はフエルト33を介
してシート22上面に塗布され、工具ホーン17とシー
ト22との間のまさつ抵抗を減少させ、シート22の送
りを良好にし、第3の実施例と同様に、ごく軟質のシー
トあるいは厚手のシートも良好な溶着状態を得ることが
できる。以上詳述したように、この発明による超音波加
工機は工具ホーンの加工面を送りローラの外周面の曲率
と等しいか、それより小さくしたため、被加工物である
シートの送りが良好であり、上下のシートのずれがなく
溶着面を良くすることができる。また、この発明では工
具ホーンの加工面のシート供給側に傾斜部を設けたため
、シートを加工部に供給し易く、シートに加わるまさつ
抵抗を減少させることができる。
さらに、この発明では工具ホーンとシートとの間にシー
トと溶着し得ないテープあるいはシートを冒さない液体
潤滑剤を介在させることによりシートの送り状態を一層
良好にすることができる。
なお、第3および第4の実施例で示した装置は被加工物
であるシートが、ごく軟質あるいは厚手のものであると
きに特に有効であり、通常の硬さ、あるいは厚さのシー
トでは第1および゛第2の実施例で示した装置でも十分
良好なシート送り状態、溶着面を得ることができること
はもちろんである。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1 工具ホーンに超音波振動を加えてその工具ホーンと
    送りローラとの間で挟持されたシート状被加工物を前記
    送りローラを回転させつつ連続的に溶着する超音波加工
    機において、前記工具ホーンの前記送りローラと対向す
    る加工面を前記送りローラ外周の曲率と等しいか、それ
    より小さい曲率の凹曲面としたことを特徴とする超音波
    加工機。 2 前記工具ホーンの加工面の被加工物供給側の隣接部
    に傾斜部を設け、その傾斜部と前記送りローラ外周面と
    でくさび状の挿入部を形成したことを特徴とする特許請
    求の範囲第1項記載の超音波加工機。 3 前記工具ホーンの加工面を前記送りローラ外周の曲
    率よりも小さい曲率の凹曲面にするとともに、工具ホー
    ンの加工面と送りローラの外周との間隙が被加工物供給
    側から漸次小さくなるくさび状にしたことを特徴とする
    特許請求の範囲第1項記載の超音波加工機。 4 前記工具ホーンの加工面と被加工物との間にその被
    加工物と溶着し得ないテープを介在させ、そのテープを
    被加工物とともに移動可能にしたことを特徴とする特許
    請求の範囲第1項記載の超音波加工機。 5 前記テープをエンドレスループ状にしたことを特徴
    とする特許請求の範囲第4項記載の超音波加工機。 6 前記被加工物の上面に液体潤滑剤を供給して前記工
    具ホーンと被加工物とのまさつ抵抗を減少させたことを
    特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項記載の超音波加工機。
