Claims

It is a type of user command that consists of one or more words. In a programmable controller where a multi-word command is defined, the user command can be a one-word command, the first word of a multi-word command, or the second or subsequent word of a multi-word command. When a deletion operation is performed on one word of a certain multi-word instruction in a user program stored in the user program memory, all of the words constituting the multi-word instruction are provided. When a word is automatically deleted and a multi-word instruction is performed at an address in the user program memory to insert a single word, the first word is written to that address area and at the same time the word is inserted. A programmable controller characterized in that, following the address area, an area for a predetermined number of words in which other words constituting the multi-word instruction are to be written is automatically secured.
