Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は光伝送方式に使用するオプティカルファイバー
に関する。
従来、シングルモードファイバーのコア径はマルチモー
ドファイバーのコア径に較べ数分の１程度に小さく、シ
ングルモードファイバーの接地に関してはマルチモード
ファイバーの接地に比較し、より精密な接続技術が要求
された。
本発明の目的は被数個のシングルモードファイバーヲた
ばねて、マルチモードファイバーのコア径と等しくさせ
ることによル上記欠点を解消させたオプティカルファイ
バーｔ−提供することにある。
本発明のオプティカルファイバーは、シングルモードフ
ァイバーを複数個たばねることによシンルモードファイ
バーのコア部にあたる部分を構成し、かつマルチモード
ファイバーのクラツド径と同等の外径を有することを特
徴とする。
以下、本発明を図面に示す実施例に基づいて説明する。
第１図は本発明によるオプティカルファイバーの一実施
例の断面図を示す、このオプティカルファイバーはシン
グルモードファイバー１１−複数個たばねて中心部２を
構成してお）、この外径４はマルチモードファイバーの
コ）外径と一致させである。ま友３は外被部であル、そ
の外径５はマルチモードファイバーのそれと一致させで
ある。
このように構成されたオプティカルファイバーは中心部
径、ファイバー外径がマルチモードファイバーと等しい
ため、ファイバーの接続に関してはマルチモードファイ
バーで使用されるコネクターを共通的に使用することが
可能でちゃ、シングルモードファイバー用のコネクタに
較べ、簡単かつ女価なコネクタで済ますことができる。
また、光の端局装置に使用されるコネクタもマルチモー
ド、シングルモードいかんにかかわらず、共通のコネク
タが使用できる友め、装置の汎用化に寄与することが可
能である。また、本オプティカルファイバーは中心部が
複数個のシングルモードファイバーから構成されている
次め、その一部が断線してもケーブルロスがわずかに増
えるだけで完全な断には紋らないため、信頼度上も従来
のシングルモードファイバーに較べ改善される効果もあ
る。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. シングルモードファイバーを複数個たばねることによシ
    ンルモードファイバーのコア部にあたる部分全構成し、
    かつマルチモードファイバーのクラツド径と同等の外径
    を有することを特徴とするオプティカルファイバー。
