PURPOSE:To enable manufacture of forged white cast iron caliber roll excellent in wear resistance, heat ruck resistance, surface roughening resistance and tenacity by forming a caliber part by low temperature forging a smooth white cast iron roll formed by hot forging. CONSTITUTION:Cast iron close to white cast iron in texture containing 1.7- 3.8% C, <2.5% Si and further one or >=2 kinds of <1.0% Mn, <2.0% Cr, <2.0%Mo, <1.0% V, <1.0% W and <=0.2% total harmful components such as P, S, Cu, As, Sn, Pb, Zn, Sb, Bi, etc. is hot forged to a smooth forged white cast iron roll. This is forged at relatively low temperature of 800-950 deg.C to form a caliber part, and coarse carbide is destructed mechanically and the texture is made fine.
