Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a W sintered body of a large size and good quality by molding W powder by a hydrostatic press method by the use of powder of specific grain sizes and molding pressure and sintering the molding.
CONSTITUTION: W (tungsten) powder having 2W5μ average grain sizes is pressurized under 1W2 t/cm2 molding pressure by a hydrostatic press method, whereby a powder molding is formed. This molding is subjected to furnace sintering such as vacuum sintering, whereby a sintered body having about 17.0W18.5g/cm2 specific gravities is produced. Since the W sintered body having specific gravities of such degree is superior in workability and is sufficiently strong, it permits good postworking such as forging.
