Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to sinter tungsten in a furnace at relatively low temp., by adjusting the particle size of raw material W powder and the true density of the mold in specific ranges respectively in manufacturing sintered body of W.
CONSTITUTION: W powder 0.5W2.0μm in particle size is manufactured by controlling the conditions for the reduction of WO3 to W. Content of about 0.01% C is preferable for deoxidation. After premolded, the W powder is made into a mold ≥9g/cm3 in true density by means of a hydraulic press etc., then it is sintered by flow type method at 1,700W1,900°C temp. using a tunnel electric furnace. Sintered body of W of 3,400°C m.p. is manufactured at relatively low temp.
