Abstract

PURPOSE: To melt the metal charged into a crucible in a short time and minimize the overheating during metal melting through controlling of electric current by placing the crucible in a coil made of wires of filament material and conducting electricity to the coil.
CONSTITUTION: A crucible contg. metal to be melted is inserted into a coil consisting of a filament material of W or the like. Thence, the coil and the entire part of the crucible are put in a gaseous Ar atmosphere, after which electric current is flowed to the coil to evolve heat, whereby the crucible is heated and the metal is melted. This method is used for metal melting in part of a casting machine for dentistry. It is possible to melt metals from low to high m.pts. easily by this filament heating.
