Abstract
PURPOSE: To considerably improve the productivity of copper alloys and lower energy costs by holding the pure copper base molten metal taken out from a vertical type melting furnace which is heated by combustion in holding furnaces then leading the same to molten alloy preparing furnaces to make copper alloy molten metal then casting the same.
CONSTITUTION: Pure copper base materials such as electric copper and copper wire scraps are supplied into and stacked in a vertical type melting furnace 2 through a line 1. These are then continuously heated with a combustion heating device in the lower part and the pure copper base molten metal melted by high melting power is taken out from the furnace. This is led to an electric furnace as a temperature raising and reserving furnace (the 1st holding furnace) and is further led into a heating and reserving furnace (the 2nd holding furnace) in order to make use of the same as a copper component of copper alloy. This is fed into respective molten alloy preparing furnaces 6a, 6b... in order to prepare the same to predetermined copper alloys. The furnace 5 decreases the unbalances in the melting rates between the furnace 2 and the preparing furnaces besides heating the molten metal to a predetermined temp. In the respective preparing furnaces, alloy components such as Zn, Ni are charged from lines 7a, 7b... and are made into the molten alloy which is then supplied into casting devices 8a, 8b..., whereby it is cast.
