Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress and prevent the floating and concentrating of sludge and improve the sludge concentrating rate by aerating the sludge prior to settling and concentrating, detecting the concn. of the waste gas released from the sludge, and controlling the flow rate of aeration according to the waste gas concn.
CONSTITUTION: The sludge from a settling basin 29 or a sludge storage tank 28 is conducted to a sludge aerating vessel 3 by means of a sludge transport pipe 1 and a sludge pump 2. In the vessel 3, a gas is supplied by a blower 4, a gas transport pipe 5 and an air diffuser 6, whereby the sludge is aerated. The aerated sludge is supplied to a sludge concentrating vessel 9 by means of a sludge transport pipe 7 and a sludge pump 8, whereby it is concentrated. On the other hand, a sludge supply rate Qs is detected with a flowmeter 15, the detected value whereof is fed to an arithmetic device 16. A proportional constant K is given by a setter 17, and K.Qs is operated by the device 16 and the result thereof is fed to a controller 18. The controller 18 operates the blower 4 according to the operated value (anaerobic gas flow rate) K.Qs, thereby controlling the flow rate of aeration.
