Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a heat sensitive valve capable of fine adjustment and of durability by a method wherein shape memory alloy is used as heat sensitive elements of a valve which opens and closes by the temperature change of liquid.
CONSTITUTION: In a valve chamber 9 a heat sensitive element 6 is pinched between a cover body 2 and a valve seat 3, and a valve body 5 is coupled with an element 6 through a nut. As shape memory alloys used for the heat sensitive alloys are made of titanium-nickel alloy, copper-aluminum-nickel alloys, etc. of plate shape which changes reversibly into a shape shown by the chain line in the Fig. when it is cooled and transforms into martensite phase. A hole is made at one end of said element, a valve body 5 having a semispherical valve head is provided in the hole and is machined with such a high precision that the valve hole 10 can be completely closed. Thus, the heat sensitive valve can be obtained which changes its shape instantaneously by a slight difference of temperature of the fluid and moreover has a simple structure.
