Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled carrier not sticking to a toner and undergoing no deterioration in the characteristics over a long term by forming a coating layer consisting of a specified organotitanium coupling agent and resin on an inorg. core material for a carrier. CONSTITUTION:An organotitanium coupling agent represented by formulaI, II, III or IV (where each or R1 and R2 is 3-24C alkyl, aryl alkenyl or cycloalkyl; X is the group of formula V, VI or VII; X' is the group of formula V; L is an acetylacetonate group; n is 1-3; m is 1 or 2; p is 1 or 0; and q is 4-20) is used. A carrier is obtd. by coating a core material such as glass powder or iron powder having about 30-1,000mum grain size with about 0.1-10wt% said coupling agent to the total amount of the resulting carrier and about 0.1-10wt% resin to the total amount of the carrier. The preferred glass transition temp. of the resin is >=about 60 deg.C.
