After the rotating speed of the machine 1 is accelerated and becomes natural commutation state, the respective currents are returned to the rated values. In this manner, the magnetic saturation of a main transformer 4 is avoided, the smooth starting of the machine is performed, and the thermal damage of the thyristor due to overcurrent flowing through the inverter 3 can be prevented.
