Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve liquid crystal display in neutral tints by using >=2 liquid crystal layers, by making at least one liquid crystal layer in a wedge shape so that its thickness varies gradually, and by containing different coloring matter in each liquid crystal layer. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal layer 11 contains yellow dichroic coloring matter, and is sealed with a sealing part 16 having a thick spacer and a sealing part 18 having a thin spacer, and formed in a wedge shape so that the thickness increases toward the right. A liquid crystal layer 12 contains red dichroic coloring matter, and is in the inverted wedge shape. When a part between segment transparent electrodes 21 is colored, the liquid crystal 11 is thick and yellow is dominant. Then, parts between respective transparent electrodes are colored to achieve neutral-tint display corresponding to the difference in thickness between the liquid crystal layers 11 and 12, thus obtaining a well decorative liquid crystal display panel having excellent visualizing effect.
