Abstract

PURPOSE:To retrieve a desired track with high precision and at high speed by detecting a track crossing signal and a track crossing direction without using an external scale. CONSTITUTION:A photodetector 11 is of two-split structure, whose splite line direction agrees with the groove direction of the pattern of a groove 61 included in reflected light 10. Adifference between outputs of the photodetecotr 11 is omplified by a differential amplifier 12, whose output is passed throught a tracking control system compensating circuit 13 and a driving circuit 14 to rotate a reflecting mirror 8; and an element 15 for scanning a light beam 5 is driven to exercise tracking control. For a high-speed track deviation, transportation control is so exercised that the element rotates nearly naturally.
