PURPOSE:To make construction simple and maintenance easy by projecting light spots to an optical information carrier by the use of waveguides, and allowing the waveguide for information detection to follow up information tracks according to the unbalance of the quantity of return light to the waveguides for deviation detection. CONSTITUTION:Beams of light from light sources 1a-1c respectively pass through condenser lenses 2, polarizers 3 and 1/4 wavelength plates 4, are conducted to a waveguide 5a for information detection and waveguides 5b, 5c for deviation detection, and are projected from a floating head 7 onto information tracks 6. The reflected beams thereof again pass through the waveguides 5a-5c, the 1/4 wavelength plates 4 and the polarizers 3 and enter photodetectors 8. Of the photodetectors 8, the outputs of the photodetectors 8b and 8c are inputted to a differential amplifier 9, the output whereof is inputted to an electrostrictive vibrator 10, then the floating head pressing member 12 mounted to the leading end of a connecting rod 12a is driven, by which a floating head 7 is vibrated in the direction intersecting orthogonally with the tracks 6 and the recording information is detected from the photodetector 8a.
