Abstract

PURPOSE: To employ high temperature working fluid to enhance the driving efficiency by a method wherein a closed Brayton cycle is employed as the driving source of a refrigerant compressor and a compressor and an expander used in said cycle are rendered to be of velocity type with no friction part.
CONSTITUTION: With the start of the running of the velocity type compressor 1, the working fluid is compressed and discharged from a port 19 and then heated up to high temperature with a heater 2. After that, said high temperature high pressure working fluid is introduced from a port 20 to the velocity type expander 4 to rotate and drive the expander by lowering its temperature and pressure. Said working fluid decreased in temperature and pressure is cooled with a radiator 5 and, after that, back to the velocity type compressor 1 to repeat the recirculation. According to Brayton cycle as described above, the output of the velocity type expander 4 is transmitted through a rotary shaft 12 to drive the velocity type compressor 1 and at the same time to drive the displacement type refrigerant compressor 8 through the low speed rotary shaft 14 reduced its speed with a reduction gear 13.
