Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the heat efficiency of a duplex cycle by using a low boiling point fluid as a cooling medium of an intermediate cooler for a gas turbine and operating a Rankine cycle with the resulting heated fluid.
CONSTITUTION: Compressed by a low pressure compressor 1, air is fed into an intermediate cooler 2. Hereby air is heat-exchanged with a low boiling point fluid or working fluid in a Rankine cycle to be cooled. Carried into a high pressure compressor 3, the cool air is subjected to another compression and led into a regenerating heat-exchanger 4. The air is heat-exchanged with an exhaust fed out from a turbine 6, heated by it and sent into a combustor 5. The combustor 5 generates gas to run the turbine 6. The turbine 6 drives low and high pressure compressors 1, 3 and a generator 7. After compressed by a pump 11, the low boiling point fluid is heated in the intermediate cooler 2 and evaporated in an evaporator 8. The vapour runs into the turbine 9, where it expands enough to drive a generator 12.
