Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the aimed substance in high yield with minimized side reactions in reacting a sulfuric ester of an aminoalkyl alcohol with carbon disulfide to obtain 2-mercaptothiazoline, by adding an alkali hydroxide in portions to the reaction mixture.
CONSTITUTION: An aminoalkyl sulfuric ester of formulaIis dissolved in an equivalent amount of an aqueous solution of an alkali hydroxide, and carbon disulfide in an amount equimolar with the sulfuric ester is then added to the solution and reacted at the boiling point of the carbon disulfide or below to form an alkyl sulfuric ester of dithiocarbamic acid expressed by formula II fully. The reaction is then carried out by adding or dropping the remaining alkali hydroxide in portions to the reaction mixture to afford a compound expressed by formula III (R1, R2, R3 and R4 are H or lower alkyl).
EFFECT: Side reactions, e.g. decomposition, can be minimized due to no contact of the aminoalkyl sulfuric ester and 2-mercaptothiazoline with a large amount of the alkali hydroxide under heating for a long time.
