Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a quantity of evaporation of refrigerant by a construction wherein a cryogenic vessel is placed inside a vacuum vessel, between which a safety device is provided. An emergency discharge pipe of the safety device are provided with breakable plate on each end, and its inside is kept at a vacuum. The emergency discharge pipe is inserted with a gap seal interlaid. CONSTITUTION:A cryogenic vessel 2 in which liquid helium 4 and a superconductive magnet 5 are contained is surrounded with a radiation shield 3 and is placed inside a vacuum vessel 1. The cryogenic device is provided with a safety device 6, and one of its ends is connected to the cryogenic vessel 2 with the other end stuck out through the vacuum vessel 1. The inside of the safety device 6 is kept at a vacuum with a breakable plate 10 at low temperature provided at an end which is connected to the cryogenic vessel 2 and with a breakable plate 9 at ordinary temperature at the other end. The safety device 6 of such construction is inserted into an open end pipe on the cryogenic vessel 2 with a helical or tapered gap seal interlaid. Thus, the quantity of helium entering into the open end pipe can be reduced and the quantity of evaporation can also be reduced.
