Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve drivability of an engine used with kerosene fuel or the like of low volatility, by the charging method of downward inversion scavenging, in which imperfectly vaporized liquid drop fuel is promoted its evaporation and vaporization by heat exchange on the top surface of a piston.
CONSTITUTION: Residual gas in the preceding cycle in a cylinder is rapidly moved to the side of an exhaust port 2' at the beginning of opening of an exhaust valve 2, and cancelled by a downward gas flow component following up to a piston because the piston 1 is on the way of lowering motion at the final period of blow down, then a gas flow is moderated. Scavenging air is mostly inverted its motion in a lower down stroke of the piston 1 further on top surfaces of the piston and fed into the cylinder, then the top surface of the piston is fully cooled by the scavenging air, further the scavenging air is decelerated in a process when colliding against the piston surface and inverted, thus an excessive amount of swirl is not caused.
