Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a two-cycle internal combustion engine, in which upper end portion of the scavenging port communicated to the combustion chamber is shaped into a knife-edge form so as to flow scavenging along the top surface of piston in parallel with the same, whereby it is enabled to minimize the amount of exhaust gas left in the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: Combustion chamber 10 is formed upwardly of piston 4 which is slided reciprocally in cylinder 1. In the cylinder 1, there are formed a scavenging passage 2 and a scavenging port 3 which is communicated to combustion chamber 10 along with upward and downward movement of the piston 4. Marginal portion 31 of the scavenging port 3 at the upper end of the same is shaped or pointed into a knife-edge form directed downward. Therefore, scavenging air introduced into cylinder 1 from the port 3 is directed downward by the marginal portion 31 in the form of knife-edge and flows along the top surface 41 of piston 4, so that amount of exhust gas left in the cylinder can be reduced.
