Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a mixture from thinning at sharp acceleration, by providing an on-wall fuel film collecting section on the bottom of a crank chamber and connecting the collecting section through a communication passage and a check valve to a scavenging passage near a scavenging port.
CONSTITUTION: When a piston 14 is moved leftward in a two-cycle horizontal- cylinder engine as an outboard motor, a mixture in a crank chamber 22 is pressurized and then introduced into a combustion chamber 18 through a scavenging passage 24 by opening a scavenging port. In idling or slow operation, some of the mixture clings as a fuel film on the wall surface of the crank chamber 22. The fuel film is collected into an opening 40 through the groove of a bearing 30 and then collected at the upstream side of a check valve 46 in a pipe 44 through a hole 42. When sharp acceleration is effected in that state, the fuel in the pipe 44 is injected into the scavenging passage 24 through the check valve 46 to prevent the mixture from thinning at said acceleration.
