Abstract

PURPOSE: In the titled treatment of shellfishes attached to the bottom of a ship, to reduce fermentation products of shellfishes as a fertilizer to an agricultural land, by setting two fermentation tanks and carrying out aerobic fermentation treatment.
CONSTITUTION: The shellfishes 31 are fed to the first fermentation tank 32, and aerobic fermentation treatment is carried out by introducing air to it from the blower 33. Usually the temperature becomes about 70°C approximately 50 hours from the beginning of the fermentation, and it returns to normal temperature. The prepared fermentation product 36 is ground by the granulator 37, and blended with an additive for keeping air permeability (e.g., sawdust, rice hulls, straw, etc.) by the blender 39. The blend is further subjected to aerobic fermentation treatment by the second fermentation tank 40. In the operation, the temperature is raised to about 70°C by introducing air from the blower 41 to it, this temperature is kept for a fairly longtime, and lowered gradually thus to finish fermentation.
