Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A 5-fluorouracil derivative expressed by formula I(R is 5- ethylenedioxyhexyl, 5-oxohexyl or 5-hydroxyhexyl).
EXAMPLE: 1-(5-Ethylene dioxyhexylcarbamoyl)-5-fluorouracil.
USE: A carcinostatic agent.
PROCESS: 5-Oxocapronitrile is reacted with ethylene glycol in the presence of an acidic catalyst, e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid, to form 5-ethylenedioxycapronitrile expressed by formula II, which is then catalytically reduced with lithium aluminum hydride or Raney nickel to give 5-ethylenedioxyhexylamine. The resultant compound is then reacted with 1-chlorocarbonyl-5-fluorouracil to afford the compound expressed by formula I(R is 5-ethylenedioxyhexyl).
