Abstract

PURPOSE: The novel utilization of a small amount of dimethyldichlorosilane for the reaction between a uracil and 2,3-dihydrofuran gives an uracil derivative useful as carsinostatic agent or their intermediate in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between uracil or 5-fluorouracil and 2,3-dihydrofuran is conducted in the presence of dimethyldichlorosilane and a tertiary amine to afford 1-(2-tetrahydrofurfuryl) uracil or 1-(2-tetrahydrofurfuryl)-5-fluorouracil. The dimethyldichlorosilane used is sufficient in an amount of about 0.2 to 1mol per mole of uracil.
