Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the transfer of a fixed quantity of city garbage by a method wherein two screws having blades twisted in opposite directions are provided in the titled garbage feeder adopted to collect and feed the garbage to an incinerator so that the garbage is transferred to the incinerator, as large sized parts of the garbage are roughly crushed and bagged solid substances are crushed by breaking bags without fail.
CONSTITUTION: The two screws 21 and 22 having the blades 23 and 24 twisted in opposite directions are provided within a conveyer casing 20. The screws are rotatable in opposite directions and held in parallel relationship with each other. The pitch of each of the blades 23 and 24 is greater at a position adjacent a garbage outlet 17 than at a position adjacent a garbage inlet 16. Further, the screw 21 is supported by bearings 25 and 26 at a predetermined position with respect to the conveyer casing 20 and is rotatable clockwise through a motor 27 while the screw 21 is supported by movable bearings 31 and 32 which move along guide rails by means of cylinders 28 and 29 and can move in such a manner that it comes close to, or leave away from, the screw 22 always in parallel relationship with the latter so that the distance between the axes of the two screws varies. Thus, when the distance between the axes of the two screws becomes greater than a predetermined distance, the rotations of the screws are reversed so that foreign matters are discharged from a discharge port 18.
