Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat exchanger having a high strength and a high anti- corrosion characteristic by a method wherein a housing for a heat exchanger unit for a cold or hot water feeding device is constructed to a synthetic resin cylinder having a water-sealed lid which is axially slidable and the container is axially held by a high rigid member.
CONSTITUTION: Inner surface of the outer cylinder 27 of the heat exchanger 3 is water sealed by a packing 30 and provided with a lid 33 which is axially slidable. Coolant pipes 31, 30 are supported on the lid through O-ring 35, and seal box 36. End wall 26 and the lid 33 are held against the water pressure in the heat exchanger chamber 34 in such a manner as their positions may be adjusted by the frame 37 and the bolt 38. With this arrangement, axial water pressure is held only with a sufficient strength of the frame 37 and both the outer cylinder 27 and the lid 33 are slidably arranged, so that it is possible to absorb an expansion of the component elements against the variation of temperature of the outer cylinder 27 and the frame 37. The heat exchanger unit may be made of synthetic resin so as to improve its anti-corrosion characteristics and to have a high strength.
