Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a reversible reaction vessel for metal hydrides which can be incorporated in a continuous cooling and heating device and is excellent is excellent in pressure resistance and hydrogen gas sealing property by filling different metal hydrides in two chambers partitioned by a partition wall which is permeable to hydrogen gas but impermeable to the metal hydrides.
CONSTITUTION: The vessel 1 is partitioned into two chambers A, B by the partition wall 2 which is permeable to hydrogen gas but impermeable to metal hydrides, e.g. a porous body of sintered metal, and the chambers A, B are filled with the different metal hydrides. In heating, for instance, the metal hydride A is heated by a heating medium heated in and fed from a solar heat collector 9 so as to decompose the hydride A, the resulting hydrogen is fed into the chamber B through the partition wall 2 and absorbed by the metal hydride B, the resultant heat being radiated through a radiator 10. Accordingly, the reversible reaction vessel for metal hydrides is obtained which can be incorporated into the continuous cooling and heating device and unnecessitates valves and solenoid valves.
