Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-storing material that is composed of a combination of the heat- storing system of CaNi5 alloy or its hydride with the storing system the hydride of a specific alloy from Misch metal, Ni and Ca, thus being capable of utilizing solar energy with no use of heat-insulating material and so inexpensive.
CONSTITUTION: The heat-storing unit is composed of the heat-storing system 2 of CaNi5 alloy or its hydride and the storing system 3 of the hydride of alloy expressed by CaxMn1-xNi5 (Mm is Misch metal, x is 0.8W0.9). The heat-exchange medium as hot water heated in solar collector 6 is sent to heat exchanger 6a in the heat-storing system 2 and to dehydrogenate the heat-storing material and the hydrogen formed is led through valve 7 into the storing system 3 where the hydrogen reacts with alloy at room temperature to store the heat. When the heat stored is utilized, valve 7 is opened, the hydrogen in the storing system is introduced into the heat-storing system and reacts with the alloy 1 to evolve heat. The heats the water in heat exchanger and the heated water is sent to heat exchanger 8 and utilized as ventilation or hot water supply.
