Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct the distortion of printing due to the scanning of a carriage automatically even when the speed of scanning of the carriage changes by detecting the speed of scanning of the carriage and altering a tilt of a deflection electrode. CONSTITUTION:When pulses corresponding to the number of revolution (the speed of scanning of the carriage) of a motor 7 scanning the carriage are generated from an encoder 8 mounted to a shaft of the motor, the frequency of the pulses is detected by means of a speed detector 9. The speed of scanning of the carriage is detected according to an output level of the speed detector 9, signals corresponding to the speed of the carriage are applied to a motor 12 for moving the deflection electrode from a motor drive circuit 11, and a gear 13 mounted to a motor shaft is turned. A hollow revolving body 4 is rotated by means of a gear 14 engaged with the gear 13, and an angle of inclination of the deflection electrode 3 is changed. Accordingly, the distortion of printing due to the variation of the speed of the carriage can be corrected because the angle of inclination of the deflection electrode 3 can be altered in response to the movement speed of the carriage.
