Abstract

PURPOSE:To transform the potential heat of a hot rolled sheet into the effective energy, by separating hot water, obtained by cooling said sheet, from cold water with the aid of specific gravity difference between them, and by reusing it as cold water after cooling it through heat exchanging. CONSTITUTION:Vertically from upper and lower sides, cold water 8 is jetted to a traveling steel sheet 1 on hot line table rollers 2 through headers 5, 6, the hat recovered water is housed in a receiving tank 3. The tank 3 is partitioned into 4 sections with 3 weirs 11, and the water level of cooling water 8 is made to be lower successively from the min. temp. section A to the max. temp. section D. In zones of sections A, B, C, the recovered water is separated such that hot water is in the upper layer and cold water is in the lower layer with the aid of the specific gravity difference, and the hot water is transfered from the high water- level section to the low water-level one successively overflowing the weirs 11. The recovered water of highest temp. in the section D of lowest water level is sent to a heat exchanger 10 and in fed to circulate, as the cold water 8, to the low temp. section A of the highest water level again; thus the recovered heat is used as a heat source for other process.
