Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption, by controlling the power supply current in accordance with the working state of each circuit part. CONSTITUTION:An integrated circuit device such as a microprocessor is divided into circuit blocks A and B plus a memory part M; and each of these blocks is connected to a power supply via a transistor (TR) switch. Each switch consists of a parallel circuit of TRs Q1A, Q1B and Q1M having a small impedance plus TRs Q2A, Q2B and Q2M having a large impedance when they are turned on. Then the power supply current is supplied via a TR of a low impedance during an operation of each block. While the power supply current is limited via a TR of a high impedance during a non-operation of each block respectively. Thus the power consumption is reduced during a non-operation, and at the same time an increase of time is avoided for the recovery to the working state.
