Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a highly sensitive combustible gas detecting element for methane gas by using spinel-type SnZn2O4 or TiZn2O4 with a certain amount of Cr added as a sensitive substance. CONSTITUTION:A certain amount of chromium oxide (Cr2O3) is added to zinc oxide (ZnO)[or stannic oxide (SnO2)]to burn. Then a pair of platinum wire electrodes is buried into te obtained burnt powder, and this is burnt for one hour at ca. 750 deg.C in the atmosphere. A sintering substance (gas sensitive substance) of spinel-type SnZn2O4 (or TiZn2O4) containing 0,5-20mol% of Cr (calculated from Cr2O3) is formed. Then the obtained sintering substance 1 is put in a coil heater 3, and they are bonded with an insulator cement 4. A detecting element for combustible gas is obtained with needed wirings.
