PURPOSE:To provide a gas sensor with the uniform sensitivity for various kinds of combustible gas, by constituting of indium oxide as the main component and adding a prescribed quantity of tin oxide and oxides of the noble metal. CONSTITUTION:The following oxides are weighed so as to contain 20-80wt% tin oxide and 0.06-10wt% palladium oxide of the whole effective components and the remainder, that is, 79.94-10wt% indium oxide and after mixing in a mixer sufficiently, a fixed quantity of mixed powder is press-formed in columnar element shape buried a platinum electrode and having 2mm.phi diameter and 2mm. length and a gas sensitive body is formed under the condition of baking at 600 or 800 deg.C baking temperature, for three hours baking time in air. This gas sensitive body indicates a uniform sensitivity for methane, isobutane and hydrogen.
