Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a combustible gas sensitive element with high sensitivity by mixing in wet state and forming powders of raw material ingredient that contain indium oxide, tin oxide and noble metal oxides as effective ingredients and then sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of a combustible gas sensitive element that contains as effective ingredients 29.4 wt% of In2O3, 63.6wt% of SnO2, and 2.0wt% of an oxide of noble metal such as PdO to 1 gram in total of respective raw material powders ethylene glycol and other liquid over 2cc are added, and the powders are mixed wet. Next the mixture is dried. A specified amount (about 20mg) of dried powders is taken and they are together compressed to form a cylinder of diameter 2mm., and thickness 2mm. with a platinum wire buried in it. Next, the cylinder is sintered by heating it to 600-800 deg.C. The sintered cylinder is provided with a heater and anti-detonation net to complete a combustible gas sensitive element. In this way an element with high sensitivity and small variation in characteristics among elements is obtained.
