Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled material useful for large area radiation calorescent dosimeters, non-silver X-ray image forming materials, etc., containing a crystalline rare earth element-contg. org. carboxylate salt consisting of o-, m- or p-phthalic acid and one member selected from rare earth elements as a main component.
CONSTITUTION: A radiation calorescent material contains, as a main component, a crystalline rare earth element-contg. org. carboxylate salt consisting of o-, m- or p-phthalic acid and one member selected from rare earth elements, such as Tb, Dy or Tm. This material exhibits good radiation calorescent sensitivity and fading characteristics as compared to conventional inorg. materials, and can easily be mass-produced as compared with a complicated process for the production of the conventional inorg. materials. Further, a crystal having a uniform particle size can be obtd. during the production of rare earth element-contg. phthalate salts. When said material is used together with a binder such as a plastic, it can uniformly be dispersed because of its great affinity.
