Abstract

A colour write-through phosphor material for use in a direct viewing storage tube comprises non-store phosphor particles 66 having a barrier layer 68 and a bi-stable storage phosphor layer 64. The material is made by treating particles of Y2O2S/Y2O3/YVO4:Eu with silica to give the barrier layer, then with a zinc salt or oxide and manganese, and firing to form an outer coating of ZnSiO4:Mn. <IMAGE>
