Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect a smoothing capacitor inserted into a converter transformer at its secondary side, by forcing the output voltage of the converter trans-former to drop when an external DC power source is used. CONSTITUTION:When an AC power source is used, switches 2 and 30 are both closed and the oscillation period of an oscillating transistor (TR) is controlled by a feedback signal from a transformer 27 to obtain a DC output from the secondary side of a converter transformer 11. When a DC power source 29 is used, the switches 2 and 30 are opened to apply the outputs of rectifying-smoothing circuits 12 and 13 to a load 17, but a point A is held negative to a point B, thereby turning on a TR40. As a result, a TR35 turns off and any voltage is not induced at the secondary side of the transformer 27 any more. Then, a TR43 turns off and a TR44 turns on to decrease the amplification degree of a TR6, and consequently the output of the converter transformer 11 decreases, protecting the dielectric strength of a capacitor 13.
