Abstract

PURPOSE:To monitor faults of a process by superposing a distrubing signal, which is small enough not to exert an evil influence upon the process, on the operation output of a controller and monitoring the result by a controlled-variable signal. CONSTITUTION:A controlled-variable signal EPV and a setpoint signal ESV from a target-value setter 5 are applied to a difference output device 11, whose difference signal is processed by control operations, such as proportional and integral operations, at a control operator 2 to obtain an output signal EC. The output signal EC is added to a disturbing signal EN from a disturbing-signal generator 3 to obtain the output EMV of a controller, which drives an operator 7. A fault detector 4 predetermines the variation of a prescribed controlled- variable signal EPV for the distrubing signal EN from the generator 3 and, when signal requirements are not met, outputs a fault signal EFL. Warning display is performed by the fault signal EFL to let an operator at a plant know that.
