Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a leakage current and improve efficiency by a method wherein an outer circumference of a semiconductor layer of a thin film solar battery made of amorphous material is shielded from light. CONSTITUTION:A black light shielding film 35 is formed on a glass substrate 34 by a method such as screen printing. A transparent electrode 37, an amorphous semiconductor layer 38 and a metal electrode 39 are piled on the shielding film 35. With above configuration a light shielding is provided between the upper and lower electordes and the outer circumference of the semiconductor layer, so that the resistance in lateral direction of the semiconductor layer is increased and a leakage current is reduced.
