Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniformalize the discharge characterisitc by using a silver-manganese composite oxide as a positive electrode active material in an alkali batery containing zinc as a negative electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode composition 1 is fed in a metal can 2 and piled with a separator 3 and an electrolyte-supporting material 4 thereon. The metal sealing plate 6 filled with gel-form zinc negative electrode 5 is fitted in the metal can 2 through a gasket 7, and closely sealed, to make an alkali battery. This positive electrode composite 1 contains a silver-manganese composite oxide as the positive electrode active material. The composite oxide is produced by a method which comprises co-precipitating a gel mixture of silver and manganese from a mixture solution of silver nitrate and manganese nitrite in the presence of an alkali solution; and subjecting the gel mixture to wet oxidation with an oxidizing agent.
