Abstract
PURPOSE:To enlarge discharge capacity and to attain equally discharge characteristics, by using a special silver-nickel composite oxide as a positive electrode active material in an alkali battery containing zinc as a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode composition 1 is filled in a metal can 2 and a separator 3 and an electrolyte supporting material 4 are piled thereon. The metal can 2 is fitted with a metal sealing plate 6 filled with gel-form zinc negative electrode 5 through a gasket 7, and closely sealed, to form alkali battery. The composite oxide is produced by a method which comprises alkalilating a mixture solution of silver salt and nickel nitrate hexahydrate to co-precipitate; and subjecting the co-precipitate to dry oxidation with ozone, after drying.
