Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent sudden variations in current by holding a thyristor untriggered when a voltage supplied to the thyristor from a stabilized power source on a thyristor switching system has a level higher than a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:When the output voltage V1 of a rectifying bridge exceeds a voltage VD1 prescribed by a Zener diode D1, the 1st transistor (TR) turns on and the 2nd TR turns off, so that a thyristor Th1 is not triggered. When a Zener voltage VD1 is set lower than a Zener voltage VD2 and a series resistance R1 to the thyristor is lower than a series resistance R2 to the thyristor, a high output voltage permits a current to be supplied via a thyristor having high resistance, thereby reducing a ripple. Since the normally closed contanct rl of a relay RL provided in parallel to a load is connected to the trigger terminal of the thyristor Th1, the thyristor does not turn on until the voltage across the relay rises, thereby preventing a rush current.
