Abstract

1. Electrode for fusion electrolysis, in particular for electrolytic recovery of metals such as aluminium, magnesium, sodium, lithium or compounds thereof, comprising an upper section (5) of metal or metal alloy which includes a cooling arrangement (2, 3), the upper section (5) being protected at least partially by a high temperature resistant, insulating cladding (4) and comprising at least one lower section (6) of active material, characterised in that (a) the upper section (5) has an inner part (16) and anouter part (17), (b) which are constructed to be mutually separable, (c) the inner part (16) being guided substantially up to the vicinity of the connection or screw joint (1) to the lower section (6).
