Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the pilling resistance of the titled fibers, by spinning an acrylonitrile polymeric solution, drawing and washing the resultant fibers under specific conditions, and relaxing the drawn fibers.
CONSTITUTION: An acylonitrile polymeric solution is spun by the dry spinning method, and the resultant fibers are then (A) introduced into water at 60°C or below, drawn at an effective draw ratio in the range of 0.3W0.8 definied by the formula and then drawn in hot water, etc. of (B) washed once in hot water, preferably in boiling water, at a constant length to remove the solvent. The fibers are then introduced into water at 70°C or below and then drawn at an effective draw ratio of 0.3W0.8, preferably 0.4W0.65, defined by the formula in the methods (A) and (B). The drawn fibers are then relaxed to give the aimed fibers.
