Abstract

PURPOSE:To dehumidify intake air for defrosting the inside surface of the window glasses in an air conditioner having a control circuit by actuating a compressor when the outside temperature is higher than an allowable level and by increasing the amount of the outside air to be taken in when the outside temperature is lower than the allowable level during the operation of the wipers. CONSTITUTION:While the wiper switch 24 is switched on, a compressor 3 is actuated through an electromagnetic clutch 4 when the outside temperature 25 is higher than an allowable operating temperature t1 to dehumidify the outside air taken into the cabin by means of evaporator 1 for reducing the absolute humidity of the air. When the outside temperature 25 is lower than the temperature t1, a control circuit 5 controls a blower 12 so as to increase the outside air to be taken in so that the amount of air of a low absolute humidity blown out from a defrosting diffuser 181 is increased. If an increased amount of air has already been supplied to the defroster, a door 20 is adjusted so as to increase the ratio of the outside air in the air supplied to the defrosting diffuser 181. The defrosting operation is attained only by switching ON the wiper switch.
